TVK Mali Triathlon Club

TVK Mali Triathlon Club measures up on an international scale! It can honestly be said that we are taking the lead in promoting triathlon, since the World Cup, named for our Company, and held in Tiszaújváros every summer, is a highly successful event.

The foundations of triathlon were laid in Tiszaújváros, in 1992. The TVK Mali Triathlon Club has been a winning team in this sports branch, for years.

Achieving both domestic and international success

For years, our teams have delivered superb results, both in Hungarian and international competitions. Their international success is hallmarked by the number of top prizes won at various European championships, organised by age group.

A successful organizer of competitions

The Club first captured world triathlon attention as an organiser in 1997.

The work cup is organized for the 15th time in 2011 as the closing event – which takes place on August 14, 2011 - of the 13th  Triathlon Big Week. There is no other world cup venue in the world which can boast of having organized the competition 15 times in a row.

Sports diplomacy success

Gergely Márkus, son of Club founder Dr. Gábor Márkus, was Director of Triathlon Competitions at the 2004 Athens Olympic Games and the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games. In addition, he is General Secretary of the European Triathlon Union (ETU), member of the Executive Board and Director of Sports Branch Development of the International Triathlon Union (ITU). The Tiszaújváros Triathlon and more specifically, the successes of the World Cup proved to be crucial for Budapest to win the right to organize the 2010 World Championship.
