Director of the TVK-sponsored Herman Ottó Museum, Dr László Veres, wins County Prima Award
Two of the winners in the county-level category of the annual Prima Awards, presented for the fifth time in 2007, are associated with TVK in some form.
While Dr László Veres, winner in the Hungarian Arts and Sciences Category, is the director of Herman Ottó Museum that TVK provides sponsorship for, journalist István Szücs, awarded in the Hungarian Press Category, is the editor-in-chief of TVK Panoráma and the press officer for the TVK Triathlon World Cup.
The Prima Primissima Award was established by Sándor Demján in 2003. His initiative was later embraced by many renowned business personalities and the National Association of Entrepreneurs (NAE). The Prima Awards are presented in three categories: Hungarian Arts and Sciences, Hungarian Press, and Hungarian Music. The Awards are not only given nationally, but also at the county level to those deemed worthy based on continued outstanding achievements in any one of the above three disciplines.
Candidates may be nominated by members of the Prima Primissima Foundation, as well as interested organisations and professional bodies. Winners are selected through secret ballot by a jury whose members are appointed by the management of NAE’s county-level organisations.
Dr László Veres graduated in 1975, receiving a university doctorate in the same year. He has worked for the Herman Ottó Museum since 1974.
Dr Veres headed the Museum as acting director from 1989 until he was appointed as director in 1991. He holds many decorations from the Government of Hungary as well as professional organisations, including the Golden Cross of Merits of the Republic of Hungary, the Arts Award of the National Academy of Arts and Sciences, and the Móra Ferenc Literary Award.
Dr Veres’s career is entwined with TVK not only through his leadership of a museum TVK sponsors, but also through his former position with TVK’s Archives.
István Szücs began his career as a journalist in 1993, writing initially for the sports pages and later also for the internal politics and economics columns of a local newspaper then called Déli Hírlap. Besides working for that paper, he regularly published articles in national newspapers such as Magyar Hírlap, Népszabadság, and Nemzeti Sport. Since 2000, he has been working as press officer for the TVK Triathlon World Cup and other various triathlon events held simultaneously with the World Cup event. He was the press officer for the European Cup Race Walking in Miskolc 2005 as well. He has been publishing articles in a regional newspaper Észak-Magyarország since 2002, the same year as he started working for TVK Panoráma. He has been the editor-in-chief of the latter since the summer of 2005.
Congratulations to the Winners!
