The international jury invited by Deloitte establishing the „Green Frog” prize granted a recognition charter to recognize the endeavors of TVK Plc. performed for sustainable improvement.
Deloitte established the „Green frog” prize in 2001, which is distributed amongst those Central-Eastern European companies that prepare the best annual environmental protection or sustainability reports to encourage employers to improve environmental performance continuously.
Based on the traditions, the establishing corpse announced the „Green Frog Application” in 2005 as well, for which the following large companies applied: Audi Hungaria Motor Ltd., British American Tobacco Hungary Ltd., Csepeli Erőmű Plc., Denso Gyártó Magyarország Ltd., Flextronics International Ltd., Magyar Posta Plc., Magyar Telekom Plc., Magyar Villamos Művek Plc. and Tiszai Vegyi Kombinát Plc. To ensure the endeavors for environmental protection as well as sustainable improvement must have been included in the applications in the first place.
Following assessment, the prize was provided on December 16, 2005 in Budapest. The prize was granted by Dr. Miklós Persányi, Secretary of Environmental Protection and Water Management as well as Róbert Reiniger, the Director of Environmental Protection Division at Deloitte. Deloitte’s target was to prepare the large companies located in the region for the participation in the environmental protection, or sustainability applications of the EC. ’This initiative bears precedent values in Hungary these days’, said Dr. Miklós Persányi, Secretary of Environmental Protection and Water Management and added that Deloitte’s targets as well as criteria system for environmental protection report are in full conformity with the guidelines represented by the department of environmental protection. The discretion points of the prize are equal to those of the EC prizes alike. Several sustainability reports were submitted this year, which were prepared in accordance with the latest EC directives for Global Reporting Initiative (GRI).
The prize is granted each time by an independent international jury invited by Deloitte. For the year of 2005, such jury comprised the colleague of the EBRD environmental protection division, one professor of the Central-European University, the representative of the Central-European Environmental Protection Center and the journalist of HVG expert in environmental protection issues. As regards the applications submitted this year the jury highlighted that the reports not only overviewed the manufacturing processes and the environmental and sustainability impacts of the companies’ direct business activities, but also covered those endeavors of the companies that improve the impacts of the products in this sense.
TVK Plc. also applied for the prize this year. Following the discretion made in accordance with the strict criteria system we may say that our endeavors recently performed for sustainable development were successfully presented in the application. Although, the first prize was taken by some one else, the performance and the application of TVK Plc. were separately highlighted and recognized, of which certificate was provided in the course of a ceremony to Zoltán Böcsödi, EBK expert on behalf of TVK Plc.
Deloitte’s „Green Frog” prize was granted to Magyar Villamos Művek Plc. in 2005.
